{"id":368,"date":"2024-09-24T00:21:34","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T00:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apconf-much.org\/?page_id=368"},"modified":"2025-03-09T15:13:09","modified_gmt":"2025-03-09T15:13:09","slug":"taiwan-2020-host-city-venue","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/apconf-much.org\/?page_id=368","title":{"rendered":"Taiwan 2020: Host City &amp; Venue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 4th Asia-Pacific Conference on Underwater Cultural Heritage will be hosted by three institutions: Bureau of Cultural Heritage (BOCH), National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU), and National Museum of Marine Science &amp; Technology (NMMST).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keelung, officially known as Keelung City (Chinese: \u57fa\u9686\u5e02; pinyin: J\u012bl\u00f3ng Sh\u00ec), is a major port city situated in the northeastern part of Taiwan. It borders New Taipei with which it forms the Taipei\u2013Keelung metropolitan area, along with Taipei itself. Nicknamed the Rainy Port for its frequent rain and maritime role, the city is Taiwan\u2019s second largest seaport (after Kaohsiung).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/english.ntou.edu.tw\/bin\/home.php\">National Taiwan Ocean University<\/a> (NTOU), the main conference venue, was established in 1953 as Provincial Taiwan Maritime Technology College. Eleven years later, in 1964, it became a maritime college that offered bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in various maritime fields. During this period, the college was supported by the Taiwan Provincial Government of the Republic of China. In 1979, it became a national institution, and were renamed the National Taiwan College of Marine Science and Technology.
